Lyme Regis

The interesting town of Lyme Regis is situated at the intersection of Dorset and Devon in England. The rolling countryside drops into the sea. It has a fascinating location. There is an amiable climate, everlasting charm and excellent hospitality. A grand and panoramic landscape of the bay can be seen from Timber Hill.

Tourist Information Centers

The Lyme Regis Tourist Information Center is located in Guildhall Cottage, Church Street in Lyme Regis. It is a black and white building where Bridge Street and Church Street intersect. It carries out various activities like Local Accommodation booking, Advanced Accommodation, Transport tickets, Marine Theatre box office, Book-A-Bed-Ahead service, Theatre and events tickets, Free Information regarding hunting, walking, transport, events etc, Attraction tickets and Selection of maps, stamps, books, gifts etc.

During April to October, it is working during Sunday also. The Charmouth local Tourist Information Point is located at the Elms on St. Andrews drive in Charmouth. Services are available throughout the year for providing data to tourists pertaining to the local attractions, sports and leisure, accommodation and optimum eating facilities. This point is un-manned. However, members from the Parish Council Offices are trained and are not reluctant to solve the queries about the local region.

Tourist attractions

The Langmoor and Lister Gardens are seafront gardens near the popular Cobb and harbor. A redesigned mini golf course, enhanced pedestrian access, new lighting are the highlights. The Marine Theatre is a traditional seaside theater. The auditorium and the licensed bar display a dramatic coastal scenery. Jane Austen Garden is situated over the west end of Marine Parade. The Guildhall is the ideal venue for weddings. It has been known since the Stuart regime. The Regent Cinema displays all the latest films that have been release. It is at the top of Broad Street. The Lyme Regis Museum is adjacent to the Guildhall on Bridge Street.

There are a number of galleries and the history section begins from prehistoric times. The geology section has local fossil finds. The Town Mill, although started in the 14th century, was formally restarted in 2001. It has two art galleries that hold various exhibitions during the year. The fossil museum which boasts of local Jurassic marine fossils is called Dinosaurland. It is situated in Coombe Street. The Marine Aquarium and Cobb History has alive Lyme Bay sea creatures, fishing artifacts, maritime history and wreckages. A wide seafront promenade has been developed by extending the Cart Road.

There is another guesthouse called Elton in Uplyme.
